Each student reads the Aquarius case in Daft pp. 122-125. Then the group discusses the following points.
1. Characterize the following contextual aspects of Aquarius:
Environment
How certain is the environment? How do you know? |
Goals/Strategy
Efficiency? Innovation? Client satisfaction? etc. How do you know? |
Technology
How routine is it? How much interdependency exists between (which?) departments? How do you know? |
Size
|
Culture

2. Characterize the current structure of Aquarius. How well
does it fit each of its contextual variables?
3. Does Aquarius exhibit any of the symptoms of structural deficiency
listed on page 116? If so, which ones?
4. Propose a new organization structure for Aquarius that would
fit the contextual variables and the information flows described in the
chart on page 124.
